Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni

4 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1/4 onion, minced

salt and pepper to taste

1/4 pound processed cheese food

1/4 pound shredded Cheddar cheese

1/4 pound shredded Swiss cheese

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Prepare the elbow macaroni according to package directions.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Stir in the flour until a cream colored paste forms. Then pour in the milk and stir constantly until this comes to a hard boil, then stir for 1 more minute. Remove from heat and set aside.

When the macaroni is cooked, spread 1/2 of it into the bottom of a lightly greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Then layer 1/2 of the grated onion, 1/2 of the salt and pepper and 1/2 of each of the cheeses. Repeat this one more time: macaroni, onion, salt and pepper and cheeses, and then pour the reserved white sauce over all. Top off with small pats of butter to taste.

Cover and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes.

5 Can sprinkle with a little paprika to aid browning (optional)

This recipe makes 6 servings, so multiply.

Boil 2 cups of macaroni elbows in salted water, for 5-7 minutes.

Stir until tender, then drain, %26amp; turn into 3 qt casserole dish.

You can dilute alfredo sauce with milk, instead of making a sauce.

Pour sauce over macaroni, add grateed cheese over top or mix in.

You can finish with bread-crumbs mixed with melted butter.

start by cooking the pasta

mix the alfredo sauce and some skim milk in a pot over medium heat. You want it still slightly thick, so I would say no more than 2 cups of the skim milk. Skip the non dairy creamer altogether

Cut some of your cheese into small cubes, and grate the rest to sprinkle on top.

Melt some butter and add garlic to it. Toss your breadcrumbs in the melted butter.

Drained cooked pasta and place in baking dish. Pour sauce over it, and stir in cubed cheese. Cover with breadcrumbs and grated cheese. Bake at 350F for about 45 minutes, or until its all hot and bubbly
when I want to make a certain dish in a new way I go to the www.foodnetwork.com and they will have different variations of a simple meal.

In a saucepan, bring heavy cream, milk, cheese, and seasonings to a boil, then stir and simmer until cheese is melted. Toss with macaroni and pour into baking dish. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top and dot with butter. Bake for 30 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven and bread crumbs are toasted and nicely browned.
I think u can make something awesome with all that try adding some bacon bits for extra flavor! Good Luck!
i didn't know they still gave away goverment cheese but it might make the mac taste real good
