Baked macaroni and cheese best recipe..??

This has been my family's favorite for many years:

Macaroni %26amp; Cheese

1 sm. box macaroni, cooked, rinsed %26amp; drained

1 block of cheese (our favorite is Mild Cheddar) 8 oz.

1 1/2 c. milk

2 Tblsp. flour

3 Tblsp. butter or margarine

2 slices of bread- heels are great

Preheat oven to 350. Place the cooked/rinsed/drained macaroni in a baking dish, add milk, flour, 2 Tblsp. of the butter or margarine %26amp; mix well. Slice the cheese into thin stips about 1 -2 '; in length %26amp; mix into the macaroni well. Tear the bread into small pieces (about 1x1';) and place on top of mixture. Use remaining butter/margarine to dot over top of bread. Bake about 35-40 mins. or until bread is browned %26amp; macaroni mixture is bubbly %26amp; cheese is melted.Baked macaroni and cheese best recipe..??
dunno what's best, i though they just come as how i do: melt 3tbsp butter, 1tsp flour dissolved in 1cup milk, boil softly with light mixing and add some salt, two cups of grated cheeses. mix so bottom doesn't stick n cook to a soft boil. pour over cooked mac. top off with a li'l more cheeses. even some bread crust crumbs. bake to somewhat browned goodness in conventional oven, or 5-7mins medium high heat in microBaked macaroni and cheese best recipe..??
This is my own recipe - if I say so myself it is delicious and everyone who I've ever made it for raves about it - I do it by eye though, without measurements, so have tried to give rough amounts. It's not rocket science though, so don't worry too much about measurements.

Boil some macaroni

Meanwhile put a large knob of butter (about 1/4 of a standard block) into a large saucepan and melt over the heat.

Remove from the heat and add about 2 tblsp of plain flour. Stir in to make a paste.

Put back on the heat and stir for a couple of minutes - this is important because it allows the flour molecules to bond with the butter properly.

Add about half a pint of milk and keep stirring - do not stop until it thickens into a white sauce.

Add your grated cheese - I use strong cheddar and I use loads - enough to fill the caserole dish. And keep stirring till all melted.

Remove from heat and add the cooked and drained macaroni. Stir so that the pasta is thoroughly coated and then put in the caserole dish and top with sliced tomatoes. Bake in oven for about 30 minutes.
Well any answer you get here is only one person's opinion of the best; if you want to find a good recipe check out allrecipes.com or another free recipe site and search for five star recipes. boil macaroni for 15 mins mix colemans cheese sauce in and grill until brown yummy!
boil your macaroni, put in an oven proof pan. drain a can of diced tomatoes and add to macaroni, add 2 cups milk, 2 tbsp. butter, and cubed cheese. cover pan and bake at 375 until milk and cheese mixes to a creamy sauce. approx. 1 1/2 hrs.
The best should be your mother's or grandmother's recipe but here is mine:

Cook macaroni as normal put in oven-proof dish.

Use a mixture of cheddar and gouda cheese for the sauce or any cheese you like!

Sauce:

Put 1 part cream and 1 part milk into a pot add salt and pepper and whatever other spice you like (a bit of paprika is divine) and bring to the boil. Thicken the sauce using whatever method you prefer I like to use cornflour because it's easier and faster. Once the sauce has thickened chuck in the cheese and stir until it melts.

Chuck the sauce onto your mac in the bowl and sprinkle grated cheese (of your choice) and bake till golden brown.

If you want you can cook up some mushrooms and bacon with tomato and chuck that into the cooked cheese sauce before pouring it over the mac. mix well so that the mac can draw in all that yummy flavour. be sure to make lots of sauce so that it's still saucy when you take out the oven.

Mmm, it's making me hungry

My mum always made macaroni cheese with a twist and it is delicious.

Cook macaroni as per instructions.

2 tablespoon of butter

2 tablespoon of flour

can of cream of tomato soup

same amount of milk to soup

Cheese (however much you want)

tsp mustard

tbsp pepper

melt butter and stir in the flour.

Add the mustard and pepper

Add the soup, a bit at a time and then the milk, a bit at a time.

Make sure the sauce is a bit thinner than you want it.

Add the cheese, a bit at a time so it all melts in.

If your sauce is too thin, mix cornflour and water to a paste and add to thicken. If it is too thick, add a bit more milk.

Mix the sauce with the macaroni and place in an overproof dish. Sprinkle more cheese on top, i use cheddar, mozerella and parmesan. Bake on gas mark 4 /5 unti lthe top is all golden and bubbly.

Does anyone have a great recipe for tradional macaroni and cheese?

I'm not looking for anything fancy, something along the lines of Southern or Soul FoodDoes anyone have a great recipe for tradional macaroni and cheese?
I make it every year, but it's hard to say what the exact amounts of each ingredient are. I use elbow macaroni (slightly undercooked and put into a pan/dish, probably around a half a cup of milk (depending on the amount of macaroni used), loads of velveeta cheese, maybe some chopped onions (if you like onions), garlic, pepper, and some people use paprika and parsley. I bake it at 350 and mix it periodically to make sure the macaroni is evenly coated with the velveeta, and sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top when it's just about done. Mmmm... I can't wait until Thanksgiving. :)Does anyone have a great recipe for tradional macaroni and cheese?

Simple.....boil your noodles al dente (not completely done) you want them a little chewy so you can finish the noodles in the oven. When your noodles are finished....drain them and put them back in the pot...turn the stove off. Saute 1/2 an onion in a skillet with butter...you want the onions transparent. To the skillet add about 1/2 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of flour....you want to make a quick rue.......stir the onions and the flour and milk together until its a nice thick consistency....if you go to heavy on the flour add a little more milk.

When you have the rue with the onions done throw this in the pot with the noodles add your cheese sauce that came with the box mac.....add some black pepper, garlic powder and a lil salt to the mix.

Put in an oven safe pan bake for about 20 minutes and no one will no it isn't homemade!
this is how i make the mac and cheese taste better.

boil and cook the noodles according to the package directions. then drain the noodles. WHILE the noodles are draining, in a pan put the milk, butter, cheese packet and one or two slices of the kraft american cheeses slices. Mix until the cheeses are melted and the mixture is starting to thicken. Immediatley take off of the stove and add noodles. Mix and then serve. It comes out real creamy, My kids love it.
simple...to a prepared box of mac n cheese.....add a can of drained tuna, and a can of cream of ';anything'; soup...mix...heat thoroughly and enjoy!!
Saute some onion and green pepper to throw in with it, then add a can of tuna..... this is different and really good.

This is a twist on Mac and Cheese that my boyfriend likes once in a while:

    2 tsp. 10 mL margarine

    1/2 0.5 onion (medium), diced

2 cups 500 mL chicken broth

1 cup 250 mL skim milk

    2 cups 500 mL elbow macaroni,uncooked

    2 tsp. 10 mL cornstarch

    3 tbsp. 45 mL water

1 cup 250 mL peas (frozen)

1/4 cups 50 mL ham, diced

    1 1/2 cups 375 mL shredded sharp cheddar .. c cheese, grated

2 tbsp. 30 mL parmesan cheese, grated

salt, to taste (i suggest a pinch)

groung nutmeg, to taste (I suggest 2 pinches)

pepper, to taste (i suggest fresh ground pepper on top)

    Steps:

    1. Melt margarine in a medium or large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add broth, milk, and macaroni, stirring occasionally. Bring to a boil. Boil on medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 6 minutes, or until tender but still firm. Do not drain.

    2. In a small bowl, blend cornstarch with water until smooth. Stir into saucepan and continue stirring until mixture boils (about 1 minute). Add peas and ham (if using). for now good luck.......
personally I buy Annies - mac and cheese 'cos the cheese in it isnt made with animal enzymes (the lining of a calf or lambs stomach) like Kraft is...

I boil the macaroni in salt water or veg.stock and be careful not to overcook as it will contiue to cook when you drain the water off and add to cheese sauce.

I love to add Broccoli or mushrooms (fried til they are brown and shrunk)

I also add fresh basil leaves and you could top it with parmesan and put under the grill to give a parmesan crust!

I've included annies web page link for recipes using their mac and cheese

    Yum....

    Happy eating...
Try a little hot pepper flakes or hot sauce to give it a little extra something.
