dunno what's best, i though they just come as how i do: melt 3tbsp butter, 1tsp flour dissolved in 1cup milk, boil softly with light mixing and add some salt, two cups of grated cheeses. mix so bottom doesn't stick n cook to a soft boil. pour over cooked mac. top off with a li'l more cheeses. even some bread crust crumbs. bake to somewhat browned goodness in conventional oven, or 5-7mins medium high heat in microBaked macaroni and cheese best recipe..??
This is my own recipe - if I say so myself it is delicious and everyone who I've ever made it for raves about it - I do it by eye though, without measurements, so have tried to give rough amounts. It's not rocket science though, so don't worry too much about measurements.

Boil some macaroni

Meanwhile put a large knob of butter (about 1/4 of a standard block) into a large saucepan and melt over the heat.

Remove from the heat and add about 2 tblsp of plain flour. Stir in to make a paste.

Put back on the heat and stir for a couple of minutes - this is important because it allows the flour molecules to bond with the butter properly.

Add about half a pint of milk and keep stirring - do not stop until it thickens into a white sauce.

Add your grated cheese - I use strong cheddar and I use loads - enough to fill the caserole dish. And keep stirring till all melted.

Remove from heat and add the cooked and drained macaroni. Stir so that the pasta is thoroughly coated and then put in the caserole dish and top with sliced tomatoes. Bake in oven for about 30 minutes.
Well any answer you get here is only one person's opinion of the best; if you want to find a good recipe check out allrecipes.com or another free recipe site and search for five star recipes. boil macaroni for 15 mins mix colemans cheese sauce in and grill until brown yummy!
boil your macaroni, put in an oven proof pan. drain a can of diced tomatoes and add to macaroni, add 2 cups milk, 2 tbsp. butter, and cubed cheese. cover pan and bake at 375 until milk and cheese mixes to a creamy sauce. approx. 1 1/2 hrs.
The best should be your mother's or grandmother's recipe but here is mine:

Cook macaroni as normal put in oven-proof dish.

Use a mixture of cheddar and gouda cheese for the sauce or any cheese you like!

Sauce:

Put 1 part cream and 1 part milk into a pot add salt and pepper and whatever other spice you like (a bit of paprika is divine) and bring to the boil. Thicken the sauce using whatever method you prefer I like to use cornflour because it's easier and faster. Once the sauce has thickened chuck in the cheese and stir until it melts.

Chuck the sauce onto your mac in the bowl and sprinkle grated cheese (of your choice) and bake till golden brown.

If you want you can cook up some mushrooms and bacon with tomato and chuck that into the cooked cheese sauce before pouring it over the mac. mix well so that the mac can draw in all that yummy flavour. be sure to make lots of sauce so that it's still saucy when you take out the oven.

Mmm, it's making me hungry

My mum always made macaroni cheese with a twist and it is delicious.

Cook macaroni as per instructions.

2 tablespoon of butter

2 tablespoon of flour

can of cream of tomato soup

same amount of milk to soup

Cheese (however much you want)

tsp mustard

tbsp pepper

melt butter and stir in the flour.

Add the mustard and pepper

Add the soup, a bit at a time and then the milk, a bit at a time.

Make sure the sauce is a bit thinner than you want it.

Add the cheese, a bit at a time so it all melts in.

If your sauce is too thin, mix cornflour and water to a paste and add to thicken. If it is too thick, add a bit more milk.

Mix the sauce with the macaroni and place in an overproof dish. Sprinkle more cheese on top, i use cheddar, mozerella and parmesan. Bake on gas mark 4 /5 unti lthe top is all golden and bubbly.

Absolutely gorgeous!
