What kind of cheese for macaroni and cheese recipe?

Can you replace 'sharp cheddar' with cheese slice cheddar in mac and cheese recipes? What kind of cheese for macaroni and cheese recipe?
I like to use a blend of cheeses in my mac and cheese. Last time i made it, I used Swiss, cheddar, and Parmesan. it was so yummy.

You can use any kind of cheese that you would like. if you substitute regular cheddar for sharp, it will just have a more mild flavor. What kind of cheese for macaroni and cheese recipe?
you can use most hard cheeses in mac cheese, try gouda or emmental mixed with cheddar heres a nice recipe, enjoy!

Macaroni cheese

Serves 4

Preparation time less than 30 mins

Cooking time 10 to 30 mins

Ingredients

250g/9oz macaroni

40g/1陆oz butter

40g/1陆 plain flour

600ml/1pint 1陆fl oz milk

250g/9oz grated cheddar

50g/2oz grated Parmesan

Method

1. Cook the macaroni in a large saucepan of boiling salted water for 8-10 minutes; drain well and set aside.

2. Melt the butter over a medium heat in a saucepan slightly larger than that used for the macaroni. Add the flour and stir to form a roux, cooking for a few minutes.

3. Gradually whisk in the milk, a little at a time. Cook for 10-15 minutes to a thickened and smooth sauce.

4. Meanwhile, preheat the grill to hot.

5. Remove the sauce from the hob, add 175g/6oz of the cheese and stir until the cheese is well combined and melted.

6. Add the macaroni to the sauce and mix well. Transfer to a deep suitably-sized ovenproof dish.

7. Sprinkle over the remaining cheddar and the Parmesan and place the dish under the hot grill. Cook until the cheese is browned and bubbling. Serve straightaway.
you can get american cheese in block form. but the actual sliced, well it will taste bad. that's my opinion. and it's rather expensive to use the sandwich slices for mac n cheese. just look around, there is american cheese. and i love love love it for my enchiladas! it melts beautifully and it's a great mild taste.
You mean like American cheese? Sure but it's going to give it a much more mild and creamy taste. And typically you don't need to add as much milk and butter so it would be better to follow a recipe that calls for Velveeta.

For me, nothing beats sharp cheddar for mac and cheese.
of course you can, my fav recipe is Tyler Florence's Mac and cheese with bacon. Its GREAT

ps. I HATE velveeta's fakey taste
you can but it doesn't melt as good because it's processed. Velveeta would be a better subsitute, if not using ';real'; cheese. Sharp cheddar gives you a ';cheesier'; taste.
yes you can here is a real good recipe my family loves macorni with a lbs of itailian sherred cheese a half or cup of bread crumbs a little garlic bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes boil mac frist enjoy
Yuppers, but you gotta cut the cheese into smaller pieces

no pun intended. cut cheese.
cheese slices? as in individually wrapped cheese? i dont think that would taste very good
use velvetta!
